New Years Eve {with Kids}

Are you looking for fun, easy and inexpensive ways to ring in the New Year - with kids??

For the past several years, we've included our own children in New Years Eve festivities.

Our tradition has been to gather with a few other families for an evening of kid-friendly games and activities. My friend {a fellow Kindergarten teacher} has always been a gracious host, and prepares the most fun games for our kids.

I'm sharing some fun, easy and inexpensive ways to keep your kids happily entertained as we ring in 2023!

*All of the printables, labels, done-for-you-games are available to download in one package here.

1. Celebration Kits

These kits are a fun way to get kids excited about the evening. Inside, is a simple collection of Dollar-store goodies, homemade crafts and edible treats.  They include balloons, noisemakers, fancy necklaces, glow bracelets, crowns, and a bag of edible "Midnight Kisses."

The "Celebration Sparkle Dough" that's inside was inspired by one of my favourite bloggers, Jen, of MamaPapaBubba. You can make your own homemade play dough {amazing recipe here}, or buy pre-made. The play dough is made so much more festive with the magical ingredients: sparkles, sequins and glitter!

2. DIY Party Hats

What would a New Years Eve party be without party hats?

These couldn't be simpler with the cutout pattern template, a few crafty loose parts, and some glue (hot glue dries instantly, but may require the help of an adult).

Pom poms, leftover tinsel, paints, buttons and a bit of stretchy elastic cord and you're all set for the party! Download the party hat template here.

3. Milk and Cookies Toast

While a champagne toast may be a few years away for the kiddos, why not create a cookie-decorating buffet (icing, and fixings), along with a tall glass of milk served in a special champagne flute?

 4. Games

A must-have at any party are GAMES! Here are a few simple games you can improvise on the fly, or do some googling to search out "Minute-to-Win-It" ideas.

NYE Bingo

Kids cut out their favourite pictures, glue them onto the playing card and Voila!

Charades

Children young and old love a classic game of charades, and for non-readers, a picture is worth a thousand words! Draw simple "action" words, and have kids act out the part! A game the whole family can enjoy!

NYE Conversation Starters

This done-for-you conversation starter kit is a great way to get your kids reminiscing about the year... favourite memories, favourite movies, and so much more.

Minute-to-Win-it!

Do a simple Google search, and you're sure to find fun and easy games for this fun tradition. One of our favourites is "snowball toss." {How many marshmallows can you toss into the hat?}
